How the ACC breaks a tie

The ACC replaced its procedure on 15 July 2026, after a five-way tie sent Duke to the 2025 title game on a step that no longer exists. Every common-opponent and opponents-record step has been deleted, so a tie that head-to-head does not settle now goes straight to a metric this tool cannot compute. The grouping is unusual and matters this season: five ACC teams play eight conference games and twelve play nine, and a team on a different number of games joins the tie if it has the same number of conference WINS or the same number of LOSSES as the leaders — not merely the same percentage.
